Marlboro Montessori Academy

From February 15th through February 21st, practicing kind thoughts and deeds will be honored at the Marlboro Montessori Academy. With Valentines Day being celebrated just one day before Kindness Week begins, we should all be in the spirit of spreading love and kindness.  It is surely one of those things that cost the least and goes the farthest…kind of like a smile.

A great place to begin instilling kindness in children is caring for their pets or other small animals. For some children, being kind and gentle with a smaller being just comes naturally.  Their hands reach out as to say let me help you. With great enthusiasm they try to protect and care for them.  Do they display the love and kindness they themselves receive?  Young children are by nature prepared to be kind.  Let’s keep that spirit alive by making acts of kindness a way of life.

Phonics is introduced to students with simple activities such as crayon rubbings
on sandpaper letters. Young children take delight in seeing the shaded letter appear on the paper. For more information about sandpaper letters, please click here.

Multisensory learning using seeing and feeling is a successful technique used at the Marlboro Montessori Academy.

Chinese New Year, which starts on Sunday, February 14th, gives us an introduction to the

 continent of Asia.  The 15-day celebration welcomes in the “Year of the Tiger”. Through

artwork and activities, its culture, people, and food, students will marvel at all the wonders

 and beauty of the Asian continent.

The opportunity to succeed is made available as a means to encourage our students to master certain skills. Our Montessori teachers telescope in on specific need areas and backtrack to the skill that is blocking the child’s progression. Using specifically designed Montessori materials, the child is presented with lessons which give a hands-on multi-sensorial approach for easier learning. The ability to touch and see the materials allows more avenues for knowledge to enter the brain. Once the difficulty is addressed, the child can confidently move to the next level of learning in that particular skill area. In addition to a highly regarded philosophy of education, key to Montessori are the highly effective, teaching manipulatives. We can’t say enough about this wonderful school. The teachers have done an excellent job to foster a nurturing environment and a creative fun way of learning. My two daughters both attend the school and love going there everyday.

We are in our 4th year at Marlboro Montessori and have 2 children there now. My son has just started their Pre-K program and my daughter is in the middle of her K year. The environment is fantastic and does an excellent job of fostering an excitement for learning in each and every child. Their creative process and self-paced learning allows for a child to learn at their own pace, and in their own way, without the pressures of rating themselves against their peers. I would highly recommend this learning environment from Pre-K through K. While they do have classes through 3rd grade I don’t have first hand experience with their 1-3 programs. My biggest concern with my daughter having completed Pre-K through K at this school is how much more she’s learned than the typical K student.

My daughter has been a student for 3 years now, and I cannot express in words how happy I am that she has attended such a wonderful place. The teachers and staff go above and beyond the call of duty. The programs offered, both during and after school, are culturally diverse, inspiring, and creative. My daughter, who is adopted from China, has thrived in this environment. When we drop her off at school she is full of energy and smiles. When we pick her up she’s full of energy and smiles. I will be sad when she graduates from MMA next year.

Back in 1994 I was looking for a preschool to send my son. I called the Marlboro Montessori Academy because they were only 3 miles away and immediately felt comfortable. The owner Jean Avery, the staff and the facility were far beyond my expectations. My son went there for 3 years. I am now a grandmother and my grandson is 23 months and he now goes there as well. He looks forward to going to the school and comes home very happy. He is a very outgoing and happy child but his social skills have definitely improved while being there. What more can you ask for.

My son attended this school for 2 years of Pre-K and now in K. I cannot express how wonderful the program and teachers are. My son is reading at a far greater level than his age group and is very advanced in mathematics. He has a solid foundation to build upon as he continues with his education. In addition to the academic achievements, his social skills have developed wonderfully with terrific life skills. As a parent, I have also always felt that he was safe and nurtured while in school. Marlboro Montessori is an investment in your child!

Great school! I had sent my second son to this school for pre-k and K(2 years). He enjoyed learning so much that he thinks learning is part of his life. He learned reading and math in school just like magic because we couldn’t ‘make’ him do it even we were very successful on our first one. Montessori really built a solid foundation for him. The most important is that he has a very good learning attitude. Now he is in 1st grade in a public school. His math and reading is top in his class. He will take talented tests for both reading and math recommended by his school. The only thing a little bit annoying is that he keeps saying he wants to go to second grade.
