To whom it may concern,
I was a student in your school eight years ago. I am writing to compliment you on my wonderful experience when I was there.
Even though it was a long time ago, I never forgot how much fun I had there. The school was made to look like a house from the inside out, which made me feel very comfortable. I remembered playing a lot of games and learning math in my kindergarten class. I will also never forget my teachers who had been nothing but nice to me, especially my kindergarten teacher, Ms. Coleen. I was always excited to go to Montessori everyday and I miss everyone there.
Thank you for you time and consideration. I hope you continue running the school the way you did when I was there and I hope to bring my children to this school someday.

It appears Mother Nature is not cooperating with us and another snow storm is headed our way on Monday night into Tuesday morning. We don’t want to break any little hearts; therefore, we are postponing our annual event until the springtime.
Our rescheduled date is Tuesday, March 23rd, at 6:30 pm.

On Wednesday, February 16th, our students received a special presentation by Dr. Sapna Patla, Periodontist and Implant Specialist. Dr. Patla presented the students with “Dudley’s Classroom Adventure”, in which ”Dudley the Dinosaur” prepared a report on healthy smiles. In the presentation following the video tape, students learned about the importance of keeping their teeth clean and having a proper diet. Dr. Patla also discussed mouth guards and dental sealants.
Dr. Patla concluded the presentation by giving this piece of advice to all of us, ” By taking good care of your own teeth, you serve as a role model for you child. It’s not difficult to help children establish a good oral health routine at an early age. In fact, this may provide your child with some measure of “smile insurance” for years to come.”
Each student received a goodie bag filled with a toothbrush and toothpaste!

Education is amazingly everywhere…especially in the snowy winter months in the North Eastern states, particularly at the Marlboro Montessori Academy.
As my granddaughter, Mei, and I were walking to the back building on a snowy day, we spotted an extraordinary icicle… a kind that I had never seen before.
What was so unusual is that it had built itself from an ice base which was wrapped around the downspout. Unattached, it went upwards about 2 feet from the gutter on the roof. It was an incredible sight to see. From the time we took the picture until we returned back inside the building, it had disappeared. Timing was special, just allowing enough time for us to capture the moment. Of course, I knew that the warmer temperature and sun was the force of nature that caused it to fall, but my granddaughter had magic on her mind. We had a great discussion about timing and how lucky we were to have taken a picture to share with her classmates.
If you are fortunate to live in snowy areas, always be on the look out for similar phenomena…children love connecting with Mother Nature…especially on snowy days. Changes take place very quickly, just like Frosty the Snowman!
According to Wikipedia, an icicle is a spike of ice formed when water dripping or falling from an object freezes. I guess Mother Nature is not concerned about which way the icicle grows…just a formation of beauty. These beautiful sights are for looking, but keep your distance as they can be harmful if they break off and fall on someone.
Pictured below are other photos that we found on our journey to find the largest icicle of the day. The moral of our Montessori Story is always keep an eye on Mother Nature. Share the spirit with your child(ren) and make a snowy memory.

Are you prepared to greet each morning with thoughts of who, when, and what kind deeds you will do today?
At the Marlboro Montessori Leadership Academy, we have been underway with great acts of kindness since school opened in September. To become a leader, our students know that it is not all about you, but what will be the best for everyone in the group. Kindness is at the top of the list for the Leadership Academy.

Choosing a worthy cause each month, Leadership students support a charity as they do acts of kindness. Whether collecting mittens for the poor, or pennies for patients who can’t afford proper medical treatment, they are on the go with assistance of their elementary teachers, Miss Ingrid and Miss Colleen.
Like no other school in the Monmouth County Area, our students have a say in what is important to study and surely where they spend extra time supporting different charities. Very small classes provide the individualized instruction to meet all their academic needs, while at the same time fostering those “out of the box” skills to be innovative thinkers.

From February 15th through February 21st, practicing kind thoughts and deeds will be honored at the Marlboro Montessori Academy. With Valentines Day being celebrated just one day before Kindness Week begins, we should all be in the spirit of spreading love and kindness. It is surely one of those things that cost the least and goes the farthest…kind of like a smile.
A great place to begin instilling kindness in children is caring for their pets or other small animals. For some children, being kind and gentle with a smaller being just comes naturally. Their hands reach out as to say let me help you. With great enthusiasm they try to protect and care for them. Do they display the love and kindness they themselves receive? Young children are by nature prepared to be kind. Let’s keep that spirit alive by making acts of kindness a way of life.

If you have children or need a great scout or church project…Keep in mind the “recycle man.” He is absolutely affordable, inspires creativity, and makes great merriment for a rainy day. Be sure to get Mom and Dad involved…grandparents can even become recycle builders as well. Please send us a picture of your creation and tell us what materials you used to build and design your “recycle man”.
Post a forum question or answer this one: Is preschool a good time to start thinking about recycling?
